This is a List of RKO films, produced and or co-produced by RKO Pictures from their inception in 1929 through the dissolution of the original company in 1959. The studio had declined after Howard Hughes acquired ownership in 1948, and was eventually sold to General Tire and Rubber Company in 1955. General Tire put all of its non-core operations in a holding company, RKO General, which in 1981 reconstituted RKO Pictures, Inc. as their production subsidiary. General Tire sold RKO Pictures in 1989, which is now under new management and operating as a small independent film company, RKO Pictures, LLC. This is a partial list of films produced, co-produced, and/or distributed by Radio Pictures or RKO. All release dates are from the AFI Database, unless designated by an ( *), which are from imdb.com; dates designated by a ( * *) are from Theiapolis.com. As per the guidelines set forth by the WikiProject Film group, the date listed is the earliest date, whether that be the premiere or the general release date.
